Preparation-only feedback

ACT helps candidates practice for the role they are applying for now. It is not recruitment assessment, selection prediction or a replacement for a real panel.

Read the role material twice

First, read it normally. Second, read it with a highlighter or notes app open.

  • Duties.
  • Outcomes.
  • Technical skills.
  • Behavioural skills.
  • Stakeholder expectations.
  • Leadership expectations.
  • Judgement or decision-making.

Group the repeated themes

Most role material repeats important ideas. Group those repeated themes into three to six preparation areas.

Choose examples for each theme

A good example should show your responsibility, your action, the complexity, the result and relevance to the role.

Practice out loud

Silent preparation is not the same as interview practice. Say the answer out loud and listen for too much background, unclear personal contribution, weak result or missing role relevance.
